First rehearsals are always exciting – and a bit nerve wracking. Who will be coming back? How many new voices will there be? What if nobody unlocks the theatre door? Will anyone laugh at Mr. Whitson’s jokes?
Today the Theatre door was open and we arrived early, wondering if there would be any early birds waiting. Not today, but shortly after we were set up, the line started forming at the door. And it grew. And grew. And GREW! Thank you everyone for your patience!!
Over 60 singers were on the stage today, bright, eager, a little nervous maybe, but ready to make some music! Administrative stuff took up a lot of today’s rehearsal time, but we did get to go over some of our basic warmups and do an initial sort of voices. This consisted of singing “The Star Spangled Banner” in a few different keys and shifting places on the stage based on how comfortable it was to sing in that key. Once everyone got the idea and started singing, oh!! The volume! We are going to be able to do some awesome music with this group! Friday we will start with our pieces for the October 11th concert, and I can hardly wait to hear what will happen.
As for Mr. Whitson’s jokes, well, maybe next rehearsal… 🙂
See you on Friday, Sept. 2nd, at 7:20 a.m.
